Mary Myles graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona Honors College, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with majors in Marketing, Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Last summer she studied abroad in Alcalá de Henares, Spain to finish her Spanish minor and live with a host family.
Mary served as President of the Eller College Student Council and Historian of The Bobcats Senior Honorary. Involved with advocating for student issues since she was a freshman, she was chosen to represent Arizona at the United States Students Association’s Legislative Conference to lobby Congress in Washington, D.C.
As a sophomore, Mary was elected as a Student Body Senator for the Associated Students of the University of Arizona. Throughout her Senate term she advocated for higher education funding, represented the student voice on several faculty boards, implemented free FAFSA workshops for students seeking financial aid, and was involved in the allocation of $2.4 million to student services on campus. Mary is the general manager of her team in the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship, working to develop a student website, “U-mark-it.com,” to encourage student involvement and retention. Her senior honors thesis focuses on her entrepreneurship venture in addition to leadership development learned through her honors course with faculty member Robert Lush and the Eller College of Management Dean, Len Jessup.
Post graduation Mary will be joining the 2013 Teach for America Corps where she will be a founding elementary teacher for KIPP Destiny Charter School in Dallas, Texas. Follow her TFA journey at http://maryfmyles.blogspot.com/.
